BackgroundRed Bull Beat Riders is a unique experience where legends and innovators of urban dance spend a week with the next generation of gifted street warriors. In 2004 Beat Riders was placed in a custom built facility at Woodward Extreme Sports Camp. Located in the magical hills of Tehachapi, California, the worlds top dancers rubbed shoulders with Pro Skaters and BMX riders. In 2006, Beat Riders was held at a private school tucked into the hills of upstate New York culminating in a battle in hip-hop’s birthplace, the South Bronx.
Red Bull Beat Riders celebrates how different dancers ride the beat: from the power of B-Boying to the footwork of House, the combat of Capoeira to the movement of Parkour. Our goal is to bring the community together to push the boundaries of what is considered Urban Dance.
We provide the experience for the 30 selected applicants (including flights, classes, lodging, meals and more). These Riders learn from the originators about the foundations of movement of styles like B-Boying, the Funk Styles(Locking, Boogaloo, Popping), House, Capoeira and Abstract/All Terrain. Red Bull Beat Riders is about empowering urban dancers to pursue what they love.
Beat Riders FacultyThe Red Bull Beat Riders Foundation Crew is made up of Zulu Gremlin, Ken Swift, Cros 1, Asia One, Brian Green and Prem Kumta. They are the heart and soul of this program – each with over 10 years of experience in urban dance. They help create the curriculum, preside over the application selection process, and are on hand all week at Beat Riders.
